The Messenger by Lois Lowry
Reviewer: Rev. Mike Stoner
This coming-of- age novel is set in a once-utopian
village that has lost its way and is becoming closed to all outsiders.
As with many of Lowry’s writings, this celebrates our intertwined
existence and shared calling to care for one another, speaking
to young and old alike. Stoner is senior Pastor at Batavia United
Methodist Church. Ten years ago he reviewed Lowry’s book
The Giver, the first in the trilogy that includes Gathering Blue
and The Messenger. |
